Thunder Mtn. off Carson Pass Day Hike
. This hike is seven mi. and has 2,000 ft. of gain. This is an in and out hike. Scenic views along the trail, especially on the ridge line. Learn some history about the area. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Strenuous.

Marlett Lake Day Hike
. This outing will begin at the Spooner Lake Trailhead. The trail is very nice and well maintained. We will hike about 10 miles RT through forests of aspen, possibly turning by this time, and pines. The overall gain is around 1,000 feet. Lunch will be at the lake. There is a parking fee per vehicle of $6, however those carpooling should share the cost. Machado Post Piles near Carson Pass Day Hike
. Fire and Ice. Existence of formation confirmed in 1990. Hexagonal basalt columns possibly millions of years older than the Devils Postpile near Mammoth. "Fire" was the lava; 'ice' was the glaciers, evidenced by numerous large erratics and glacial striation. Five mi. total on in-and-out; 800 ft. of gain. Not on trail. ND. September 23-2 (Friday) Call for Details
Soldier Meadows Hot Spring Service Trip
. No signups until after 9/10. Must call leader at 775/843-6443 by 5:00 9/21 to sign up. High clearance vehicles preferred, these are usually a work day and a play day! 4WD or carpooling may be needed on play day! We’ll be near High Rock Canyon and the Emigrant Trail on this trip about 60 miles north of Gerlach. Long drive on gravel roads; be sure to check your spare and bring a second if you have one! Possible visits to other hot springs on the way out. We’ll be working with NWS, Friends of Black Rock and Friends of Nevada Wilderness to restore Desert Dace habitat at Soldier Meadows Hot spring to help protect them from Green Eared Sunfish. If you have hip waders or chest waders bring them. Some food provided, kids camp (Advise if you are bringing kids and how many) and soaking will be available. LNT, bring water, vault toilet at site but the wise person brings a shovel for personal needs elsewhere. DL. Leader: David Book (775-843-6443). Easy.

September 24 (Saturday) 8:30 A.M.
Hunter Lake Hike
. Autumn is a great time to trek to this distant lake near the crest of the Carson Range. We should see plenty of aspens that are starting to quake and turn color, as well as other fall foliage. And busy squirrels and migrating birds. For experienced, conditioned hikers only; because it is 7 miles each way! Total 14 miles RT, and 3000' elevation gain. Strenuous. ND. Leader: Ridge Walker.
