5 Lakes and 2 snowbanks in the Carson Pass Area Day Hike
. Hike around Frog, Winnemucca, Round Top, Emigrant and Caples Lakes. Trip is 12 mi and is ONE WAY, with a vehicle shuttle. Gain 1,500 ft. with some cross country/boulder scrambling. Learn a bit about the history of the emigrant wagon trail. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Strenuous.

August 13 (Saturday) 8:30 A.M.
Donner to Old Hwy 40 Day Hike
. Beautiful scenery and vistas on this 7 mile hike! We will be on the PCT with very gradual elevation change of about 600 feet, rated moderate. Be sure to bring plenty of water and lunch, also dress for weather and any possibilities. We will find a scenic lunch spot. Meet off McCarren and MaeAnne in the Khol's/McDonald's parking lot. Loch Leven Lakes Day Hike
. This hike switchbacks through granite and is mostly forested. The trip is about 6.5 miles RT with a little over 1,000 feet of gain. The lakes are great for swimming and enjoying our lunches. Learn about the flora and fauna we sight while hiking. Trip limit of 14. (only well-mannered dogs allowed). DOK. Leader: Holly Coughlin (775-432-9948; ladyhiker@att.net). Red Lake Peak at Carson Pass Day Hike
. Two peaks over 10,000 feet in elevation. Learn some history of the area. At least 2,000 ft of gain. and 6 mi. mostly off trail. Wildflower viewing. For experienced and conditioned hikers. Bad weather will cancel. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Strenuous.

August 21 (Sunday) 6:30 A.M.
Leavvit Peak
. One of my favorite hikes in the Sierra Nevada.We'll visit the highest peak in the area.We will be hiking south of Sonora Pass. Mostly on the PCT where will take a side trip to the summit.Hopefully We'll be able to see some alpine flowers and beautiful lakes. Great rock formations abundant. The hike is about 11+ miles round trip with an elevation gain of 2000+feet in the Emigrant Wilderness.This hike is at high altitude because the hike starts at 9,624. Long drive to the TH, but worthy!
