Snowshoe to Dry Pond (postponed to April)
. This is a nice snowshoe in the Galena Forest area. We will cross White Creek and ascend about 800 feet to Dry Pond, where we will enjoy a picnic lunch and view local flora and fauna. Outing is 4 miles round-trip, but more difficult on snowshoes. Bad weather will cancel, but lack of snow will make this a hike. (Outing is postponed until April, we will post this again at that time) DOK. Leader: Holly Coughlin (775-331-7488). Co-Leader: Jim Call (775-420-6363; freneticmarmot@gmail.com). Moderate.

Pah-Rum Peak (7608') Day Hike
. The high point of the Fox Range, situated just north of Pyramid Lake provides views of Pyramid and both Smoke Creek and Black Rock Deserts. We will be hiking in a BLM designated Wilderness Study Area (WSA) and we'll discuss its current status as well as the prospects for Wilderness designation. The hike will be about 6 mi RT and 2600' of elevation gain. This is a reschedule of the hike planned for 2/28 that was cancelled due to the snowstorm. We're hoping for a better outcome this time. ND. Leader: Larry Dwyer (775-745-6628; kdwyer31@charter.net). Co-Leader: Lucrecia Belancio (775-410-1085; lucrecianature@gmail.com). Strenuous.

Rawe Peak (8343') Day Hike
. Rawe Peak is the high point at the north end of the Pine Nut Mountains and overlooks the Carson River east of Dayton and the Walker River in the Mason Valley around Yerington. Some people think that this area would be a good candidate for Wilderness designation. Come learn about what Friends of Nevada Wilderness is doing to make that happen. The hike will be about 5-6 mi RT and 1500' of elevation gain. Note: Significant snow accumulation and/or weather could modify our plans. Contact leader for details. ND. Leader: Larry Dwyer (775-745-6628; kdwyer31@charter.net). Co-Leader: Lucretia Belancio (775-410-1085; lucretianature@gmail.com). Moderately Strenuous.

Two Ladies and Two Gents Day Hike
. Come and meet them; three peaks with summits in the 6,000 foot range; Rose and Kate Sutro, and the Grosch brothers, all near Virginia City. About 1,000 feet of gain and about three miles in sort of a loop. Mostly off trail and some rock scrambling. Of course there's an enigma. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Strenuous.

March 28 (Saturday) TBA
Petersen Mountain (7841') Day Hike
. Join us for a hike up to the high point of the Petersen Mountain Range that straddles the California-Nevada border just north of Reno. In addition to being on the Great Basin Peaks list (#86) this beautiful area has wilderness characteristics that should qualify it to be managed as such by the BLM. However, it is being left out of wilderness consideration in the BLM's Resource Management Plan which is under review. Friends of Nevada Wilderness staff will be along to explain the latest and what you can do to help out. Contact Leader for details. ND. Leader: Larry Dwyer (775-745-6628; kdwyer31@charter.net). Co-Leader: Dorothy Hudig (775-323-4835; hudig@sbcglobal.net). Moderately Strenuous.

March 28 (Saturday) TBA
Tire Changing Class
. You've just come back from a hike and you've got a flat tire! Your cell phone won't work so you can't call your friend or the auto club. And it looks like rain! What Now? We'll cover that in this easy class in a paved parking lot in Reno! Women are especially encouraged to attend but guys can come too! Bring your owner's manual, wear old clothes, and watch a demo plus some hands-on instruction on your car. We'll also include some Back Country tips since it's sometimes different there than in a parking lot! Sign up after 3/14! ND. Leader: David Book (775-843-6443). Easy.
