Outing is 4 miles round-trip, but more difficult on snowshoes. Bad weather will cancel, but lack of snow will make this a hike. Rawe Peak (8343') Day Hike
. Rawe Peak is the high point at the north end of the Pine Nut Mountains and overlooks the Carson River east of Dayton and the Walker River in the Mason Valley around Yerington. Some people think that this area would be a good candidate for Wilderness designation. Come learn about what Friends of Nevada Wilderness is doing to make that happen. The hike will be about 5-6 mi RT and 1500' of elevation gain. Note: Significant snow accumulation and/or weather could modify our plans. Contact leader for details. ND. About 1,000 feet of gain and about three miles in sort of a loop. Mostly off trail and some rock scrambling. Of course there's an enigma. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Strenuous.

March 28 (Saturday) TBA
Petersen Mountain (7841') Day Hike
. Join us for a hike up to the high point of the Petersen Mountain Range that straddles the California-Nevada border just north of Reno. In addition to being on the Great Basin Peaks list (#86) this beautiful area has wilderness characteristics that should qualify it to be managed as such by the BLM. However, it is being left out of wilderness consideration in the BLM's Resource Management Plan which is under review. Friends of Nevada Wilderness staff will be along to explain the latest and what you can do to help out. Contact Leader for details. ND.
