Mt Davidson to Virginia City Day Hike
. Mt Davidson at 7,766 above Virginia City area. Hike is a 10 mi loop 1,700 ft gain. Portions off trail; steep w/brush; strenuous in places. View segment of Comstock era wooden box flume of Virginia City water system. Peak is on Great Basin Peaks Section list. Great views. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Strenuous.

November 11 (Wednesday) 9:00 A.M.
Hidden Valley Highland Loop
. Day hike along the eastern skyline of Reno along the Highland Trail in Hidden Valley Park on the east side of town. We intend to take in "Road to Nowhere" Peak, Flag Peak, and loop back down Pembroke Canyon. Trip length 7 miles with 1,550 elevation gain. Learn of the flora and fauna of the Virginia Range. We hope to run into wild mustangs, golden eagles, prickly ponderosas, pinyon pine, and jostling junipers. DL. Leader: Ridge Walker (853-8055). November 11 (Wednesday) 9:00 A.M.
Lahontan Reservoir Veteran's Day Observance Day Hike
. Spend Veterans Day hiking at Lahontan Reservoir, near Silver Springs. Enjoy silence and stark beauty along the shoreline. 6 miles total in-and-out, nearly zero gain. View Tufa formations. Reported location of "Mark Twain' hotel described in a flood of Carson River. Bring your U. S. flag. 1$ cash State park fee. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Easy.

November 12 (Thursday) 7:30-8:00 P.M.
Great Basin Group Program Meeting
. Join us for a presentation by our very own Anne Macquarie, a Toiyabe Chapter ExCom officer and GBG member, as she leads us across the Himalayas to Mt. Kailash. Program meetings are held at Bartley Ranch main building to the right. ND. Leader: Charlotte Cox (775-848-0741). Easy.

November 14 (Saturday) TBA
Pah-Rum Peak (7608') Day Hike
. The high point of the Fox Range situated just north of Pyramid Lake provides great views of Pyramid and both Smoke Creek and Black Rock Deserts. We will be hiking in a BLM designated Wilderness Study Area (WSA) and we'll discuss its current status regarding prospects for Wilderness designation. The hike will be about 6 mi RT and over 2600' of elevation gain. Note: Significant snow accumulation and/or weather could modify our plans. Contact leader for details. ND. November 15 (Sunday) 9:45 A.M.
Incandescent Rocks Day Hike (cancelled due to weather)
. View colorful rock formations, including balancing rocks, as we trek to the ridge line in the Virginia Mountains. Trip is 5-6 miles, but has 1,800 feet of gain, some off-trail which is more difficult. This is an area that we believe should be protected. Bad weather will cancel. DOK. November 16 (Monday) 4:45 P.M.
Easy River Walk (one of the 11 different segments of the Truckee River)
. The Easy River Walk is a Mon. eve. walk that is a 4-6 mi round trip of the Truckee River. 11 segment hikes in total spanning a 30-40 miles. After the hike those interested in eating out nearby get together for post-hike fun & food. During the Winter months, this hike starts earlier & attendees bring a hiking headlamp. November 26-29 (Thursday-Sunday) 8:00 A.M.
Explore Nevada's Newest National Monument (Basin and Range NM)
. Tour our newest national monument in southern Nevada. Comprising 700,000 acres, Basin and Range National Monument highlights the basin and range topography with dry dusty valleys and rocky, wooded ridges. Archaeological sites and the City landscape-scale "art" of Michael Heizer are preserved here . We'll tour the area mostly by vehicle, with some hiking. Primitive camping sites with no amenities. DOK.
