August 1 (Thursday) 5:30 p.m.
Moderate Evening Conditioning Hike
. Join us for evening conditioning hikes of 3-5 miles at a moderate pace, with elevation gain 750-1000 ft. Discover trails and learn about nature and geology in and around the Truckee Meadows. August 3 (Saturday) 8:00 a.m.
Devil's Oven Hike
. We will hike in at Castle Peak on the PCT to Devil's Oven Lake and return via another trail. This hike is usually rife with summer wildflowers. The Devil's Oven is a small, rarely visited sub-alpine lake in the granite splendor of the Sierras. The hike is about 13 miles with 2000 feet of elevation gain. DL. August 4 (Sunday) 6:00 a.m.
White Mountain Peak Bag
. This hike is near Bishop, CA. White Mountain is 14,250 feet in elevation, making it the 3rd highest peak in the continental U.S. Hikers must be expereinced, conditioned and fit, and must have hiked with the leader at least once prior to this ascent. Trip is 15.2 miles RT with a total elevation gain of 3,473. Storms or smoke cancel. This is a Great Basin Peak Group summit. Route is on a 'jeep road'. We will meet at 6:00 a.m. at the trailhead. ND. Perseid Meteor Show in the Black Rock Campout
. We'll be camping in Mid-Playa to watch this year's Perseid Meteor shower. Portapotty provided, Potluck/barbecue likely Saturday night! This is one of the best meteor showers of the year and since the new moon is on 8/6 the skies will be really good! Side trips to nearby area hot springs likely, right on the Emigrant Trail! We'll meet up Friday and head out. RV's & trailers okay to the camping spot, high clearance 2WD or carpool for side trips. Dogs okay, but be prepared to pick up after them and keep on leash. Do you have a Ham Radio? Bring one to use the 2 area repeaters! FRS/CB radios helpful but not necessary. Leader is very familiar with the area! DOK. Leader: David Book (775-843-6443). Easy.

August 10 (Saturday) 8:00 a.m.
Five Lakes, Two Snowbanks Dayhike
. This hike is in the Carson Pass area. Hike from the ranger station to Frog, Winnemucca, Round Top, Emigrant and Caples Lakes. Trip is about 12 miles one way, with a vehicle shuttle. Elevation gain of about 1,500 feet with some cross country/boulder scrambling. Learn a bit about the history of the emigrant wagon trail in that area. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Strenuous.

August 17 (Saturday) 8:30 a.m.
Hike or Bike along the new Tahoe to Pyramid Route
. Hike along a new section of the Tahoe to Pyramid route. This outing will be about 7 miles RT with minimum elevation gain. Hikers will go to the Fleish Bridge with great river views. Meet at Quilici Ranch Rd. in Verdi for hike. Take Exit 3 in Verdi westbound, go left under the freeway, cross over the railroad tracks, and immediately turn left of Quilici Ranch Road. It is about 1 1/2 miles to the end--park before crossing the tracks again. For bike riders, meet at Crystal Peak Park at 8:30. Bring plenty of water, leashes for dogs, and clothing for weather conditions. DOK. Leader: Kim Glasgow (338-0221). Moderate.
