April 4 (Thursday) 5:30 p.m.
Moderate Evening Conditioning Hike
. Join us for evening conditioning hikes of 3-5 miles at a moderate pace, with elevation gain 750-1000 ft. Discover trails and learn about nature and geology in and around the Truckee Meadows. April 7 (Sunday) 8:00 a.m.
Gloria's Peak
. Hike to a peak in the Pah Rah Range with beautiful rock formations. Great vistas of surrounding mountains and Pyramid Lake most of the way.About 8 miles with 1,700 ft elevation gain.Some on roads made by ATV and some cross country, especially steep toward the end. April 11 (Thursday) 5:30 p.m.

April 13 (Saturday) 10:00 a.m.
Hole In The Wall
. An easier hike near Reno. The trail is 5 miles long round trip with about 500 feet elevation gain. We will have great vies of Reno and likely see magpies. We will discuss the erosion and wildlife in the area. The trail is mainly a hard dirt surface with a few sandy areas and loose rocks. Please bring plenty of water and wear hiking shoes. There is some picnic tables nearby to enjoy after the hike. Dogs are welcome on a leash, this is a popular dog walking trail. DL. Leader: Bill Myatt (775-233-3186; lovethesierras@yahoo.com). April 14 (Sunday) 8:00 a.m.
Peavine Mountain
. Hike right in our backyard. The approach will be from the northwest(off Robb street). Start on a canyon on narrow trail, some cross country and finally reach the main road that will take us to the peak. Great views of the area and hopefully see some flowers and aspens. Usually windy on top.Bring layers and poles are helpful. About 9 miles and 3000 elevation gain. DL. Leader: Lucrecia Belancio (775-410-1085; lucrecianature@gmail.com). Tuesday evening conditioning hike
. The Tuesday evening hikes will run until Ocotber. These hikes will be easy, with 2-3 miles round-trip, less than 300' elevation gain, and 1-2 hours duration. We will meet at various trailheads around the Truckee Meadows. April 20 (Saturday) 8:00 a.m.
Earth Day Volunteer Clean-Up in Virginia Mountains
. We are looking for volunteers to help us with a clean-up in one of the areas at the base of Virginia Mountains. This is a beautiful area southwest of Pyramid Lake. All you need to bring is heavy gloves, possibly a rake or shovel, and desire make a difference. Trucks to help carry trash is helpful, if you have one. We will supply trash bags to collect trash. April 20 (Saturday) 8:00 a.m.
Rock Point Mill Tramway
. Aerial Tram route between the Rock Point Mill in Dayton and the Comstock. This is a day hike, mostly off trail through brush, tracing the route of the former overhead tram that transported ore from the Comstock to the Rock Point Mill at Dayton. About seven miles with over 2,000 feet of gain. Learn some mining history of the area. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Strenuous.

April 21 (Sunday) 11:00 a.m.
Earth Day Festival
. Come celebrate Earth Day by visiting the celebration at Idewilde Park in Reno. Festivities include music, a variety of booths (drop by the GBG booth and say hi), drum circles, and food. There will be raffle drawings and all kinds of fun things for children to participate in. Be sure to leave the dogs at home. Fun! ND. Leader: Holly Coughlin (331-7488). Easy.

Reno Map and Compass Class: Are you LOST without a leader?
. Get ready for your desert and mountain trips! Learn Map and Compass or brush on you your skills. About one half day, includes "classroom" and practical during a brief hike. You don't need a compass but feel free to bring yours! We'll give you some suggestions on what to buy. We'll talk briefly about GPS but this map and compass class is the foundation under your GPS! V & T Railroad Dayhike
. Virginia & Truckee Rail bed between Gold Hill and Mound House. About 7 miles, down hill, paralleling the tracks. Learn some history of the area and of railroads. A vehicle shuttle will be necessary. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderate.
