December 3 (Saturday) 8:00 a.m.
Churchill Butte Near Silver Springs
. We will scale the butte, overlooking historic Fort Churchill, and portions of the emigrant wagon route, ancient and modern Lake Lahontan, the Pony Express Trail, and the Lincoln Hwy. Learn some history of the area. Day hike of about 9.5 miles, with at least 1,800 feet of gain for the day, all in the first four miles. Portions of hike are off trail with steep descents. ND. December 3 (Saturday) 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
GBG Holiday Party
. Join us Saturday, December 3rd from 6:00 9:00 p.m. for a stupendous pot luck dinner, great company recognition of giving members, and dancing. Bring a dish to share, and since we try to be environment- friendly when we gather, your bringing your own place setting, glass and utensils would be appreciated. The club will provide nonalcoholic punch and water. BYOB if desired. Mark your calendars now for a warm, wonderful evening of fun. The Patagonia building is located at 8550 White Fur Drive, Reno. To get there take I-80 west to exit 10 (West McCarran), go left on McCarran. Take a right on W. 4th St., follow W. 4th two miles to Woodland St. Take a left, cross the railroad tracks, then take your first right on White Fir St. Follow White Fur around to the left. Day hike Cleaver Peak
. OFF TRAIL day hike with rock scrambling, and some brush. About 2,400 feet of gain and about 8 miles round trip on an in and out. Great views from the summit. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Strenuous.

December 11 (Sunday) 12:00 Noon to 5 pm
Friends of Black Rock Christmas Gala

December 17 (Saturday) 8:00 a.m.
Carson River Rail Roads
. Near Moundhouse. Day hike of about 12 miles one way with a vehicle shuttle. Elevation gain of less than 1,000 feet. Hike along the scenic Carson River Canyon and learn about two of the railroads of the Comstock era. Portions of the hike are cross-country. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Strenuous.

December 18 (Sunday) 9:00 a.m.
Fay-Luther Trail System
. We'll meet at the Fay-Luther Trailhead and depending on trail conditions, snow/no-snow, we'll explore the Fay-Luther Trail System. If there's no snow then we may hike the entire Fay-Luther Trail (about 6 miles)or hike to the Jobs Peak Ranch Trailhead and back (7 miles). If there's enough snow then we'll snow shoe until we get tired. Dogs must be leashed in this area at this time of year. Depending on the route we take 500' to 1000' gain. DL. New Year's in Gerlach
. A totally informal New Year's in Gerlach involving walking between the 3 bars in Gerlach. Unless you are really hardy, stay at Bruno's Motel, check in and reservations at the bar, 775-557-2220. We may have other activities, hot springs if the playa permits, the local art gallery, scenic drive, etc. Dogs limited, prepare to clean up after your dog. Sign-up 12/15-12/28. DL.
