Mt Davidson, Range High Point
. First this season of a series of the highest peaks in local mountain ranges. Mt Davidson in the Virginia Range 7,664, overlooking Virginia City day hike of about 7 miles in a loop with about 1,000 feet of gain. Portions off trail, steep with brush. Cold Nights and Hot Springs
. This is for all the people who gripe about hot weather in the Black Rock. We'll probably meet up in Reno on Friday evening and head on up for a 4WD oriented hot springs tour. High clearance vehicles required, 4WD preferred. Leader's choice of springs, will depend on playa conditions. We'll visit several springs, maybe camp at either Double Hot or Black Rock Hot and visit the Lassen-Clapper Murder Site and a nearby section of the Emigrant Trail. Juniper Peak Dayhike
. We'll hike to Juniper Peak in the Truckee Range east of Nixon. This seldom-visited peak is a difficult cross-country trek, with elevation gain of roughly 2500 ft. November 19 (Saturday) 8:00 a.m.
Cleaver Peak, High Point in the Desert Mountains
. Second range high pont in the series this season. Cleaver, 6,700 feet elevation is south of Silver Springs. About 8 miles RT, with about 2,400 feet of gain. Off trail, boulder scrambling, steep in places. Learn about history and flora. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Strenuous.

November 20 (Sunday) 9:00 a.m.
Prison Hill
. We'll meet at the Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City where we'll leave half of the cars. We'll then drive a short distance to north end of Prison Hill. We'll climb to the top of Prison Hill and then make our way south along the ridge line. At the south end of Prison Hill we'll drop down to the Mexican Dam and return to the cars via the Mexican Ditch Trail. Approximately 7 miles and 1100 feet of gain. DOK. Outings Meeting

Pre-Thanksgiving Dayhike
. Work up an appetite before the the big feast! We plan to hike about 5 miles, with 1,000 feet of gain, at moderately fast pace in the hills east of Reno. We'll stop for a break on the ridge to have a snack. Learn about flora and fauna we might encounter, including the possibility of wild mustangs. Trip should be about 3 hours. DOK.
