Gourmet Dayhike
. If you love gourmet food, hiking to a great swimming lake, and lots of fun, this is the outing for you. Plan on hiking about 5-6 miles RT with up to 800 feet of gain. All participants bring a pot-luck gourmet type of dish to share. This is your opportunity to get creative! Trip destination TBA. Trip limit 14. DOK. Leader: Holly Coughlin (331-7488). September 5 (Sunday) 8:30 a.m.
Chimney Beach to Marlette Lake
. This is a less traveled route to Marlette Lake with fantastic views of Lake Tahoe. We'll climb from Highway 28 to Marlette Lake Dam and then follow the lake south until we connect up with the trail to Spooner Lake. We'll then turn off the Spooner Lake trail to curve around north again and meet up with the trail back to the cars. About 9 miles, 1500+ feet of gain. DOK. Truckee River afternoon/evening digital photography instruction
. Meet retired professional photographer Graham Stafford in front of the California Bldg. in Idlewild Park at 5:30 PM Wednesday Sept 8. We will walk along the Truckee River as Graham gives instruction on the proper use of your digital camera and general photography. Graham will also spend personal time with each person and their camera. Bring your camera with the battery fully charged---empty memory card and instruction book. Anderson Peak on the Pacific Crest Trail
. We'll hike over a half-mile of rough granite right at first. But then for several hours we'll follow the southbound PCT's long crests & saddles with their endless vistas to finally ascend Anderson Peak's plateau-top, near the famous Benson Hut. September 11 (Saturday) 8:00 a.m.
Machado Postpiles Dayhike
. Fire and Ice – the Machado Postpiles day hike in the Carson Pass area. The existence and location of these natural hexagonal basalt columns, similar to, but believed to be millions of years older than the Devils Postpiles near Mammoth were not confirmed until about 1990. That’s the ‘fire’; the ‘ice’ is evidenced by the numerous large erratics near beginning of the hike and the glacial striations. About five miles on an in and out with about 800 feet of elevation gain. Not on a trail. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately Strenuous.

Three 10,000 Foot Peak Dayhike
. Day hike to the tops of three peaks each over 10,000 feet high. Just south of Lake Tahoe are Freel, Jobs Sister and Jobs peaks; we will ascend all three in one day. About 10 miles in a loop; about 4,400 feet of elevation gain. Experienced, and conditioned hikers only on this fast-paced event. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Strenuous.

September 19 (Sunday) 8:30 a.m.
4th of July Lake Dayhike
. This is a fabulous hike that winds by several lakes including Frog, Winnemucca, Round Top, and finally 4th of July Lake. Trip length is 10 miles with a little over 1,000 feet of gain and loss. Learn about local flora and Fauna. We will end our adventure at Grover's Hot Springs for a soothing soak. Trip limit 12. DL. Leader: Holly Coughlin (331-7488). Co-Leader: Elias Dechent (825-7472). . Join retired photographer Graham Stafford on a digital photographic and exploratory car camp into the Black Rock Desert. Visit beautiful areas including natural hot springs. Leavitt Peak Dayhike
. Hike up Leavitt Peak, elev 11,569, near Sonora Pass. About 13 miles R/T mostly above the 10,000 foot elevation level on an in and out hike on the PCT. About 1,900 feet of gain for the day.
