This trip comprised only the leader, David von Seggern, and one participant, Martin Mace. We took the new "Sierra Canyon Trail" to the Tahoe rim and onto Genoa Peak for a round-trip of nearly 20 miles.
Service work on the Black Rock NCA
Volunteers built a small catchment dam in the High Rock Canyon Wilderness. We worked with the BLM Wilderness Rangers of the Black Rock NCA. This will help provide water for wildlife and help prevent damage done by Wild (feral) horses
Tom Basin burn area planting
Volunteers from the Sierra Club, Friends of Nevada Wilderness and the Nevada Outdoor School met and camped in Paradise Valley. On Sat we met with the Forest Service and planted native plants in the Tom Basin burn area by the Santa Rosa Wilderness. We did this to help the burn area recoup from the devastating fire. We camped in rain, sleet and snow. While planting, we endured high winds and very cold temperatures, but fun and accomplishment was had by all.
Chickadee Ridge Snowshoe
Holly Coughlin led this fun snowshoe trip up to Chickadee Ridge at Tahoe Meadows overlooking Lake Tahoe.
NYD hike 2012
This hike was 2012's entry in the annual New Year's Day hike history. We walked a road up out of Somersett to the west ridge of Peavine Mountain and returned, all in less than 4 hours. Notable was the fact that there was no snow on Peavine, nor almost anywhere on the Sierra Nevada that we could see.
New Year's Day Hike
26 brave souls hiked from Riverview Park in Carson City to the Mexican Dam and back. It was a beautiful day.
